IDK why I'm so exhausted; I've been getting a full eight hours, give or take ten minutes at most, every night except Friday & Saturday, and since I nap most of the day Saturday & Sunday that shouldn't make a huge difference. And I'm not seeing any signs the sleep I'm getting is restless - if my sheets were all fucked up in the morning, or something, I'd get it. But there's no sign of bad sleep, and I'm still having trouble getting out of bed when my alarm goes off, still dragging ass by the end of the day. Today I took a half-hour nap even though I have a rule against napping on weekdays, and I'm already wanting to crawl into bed. Blah.
It doesn't help I've been having killer migraines like crazy lately; two Saturdays in a row I've woken up with a bad one that refuses to die, and I keep getting them at work. We have two warehouses, the one we usually work in and one across the street that's mostly there to get shit out of the way we work in every now and then. The crap warehouse has fluorescent lighting, and we've been checking cans/boxes for rust, which means having to scrutinize in crappy, dim lighting. AWESOME for my headaches, totally.
We have a four-day weekend coming up. Maybe I just need a break.
ETA: While I was in the shower, one of the cats decided to work on the sequel to I Don't Blame You For Being You:
Kevin blinks; the night before flashes into his head, more than he could remember before, and the second he sees it his face has to show it, 'cause Mike looks away.
"RRRRD1`N IU DSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSSSS)_PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPVPI'm sorry, Kevin."
When I figure out which cat it was, I think I'll let her write my yuletide fic.

The picture on the left is from this past spring. The picture on the right is from September, three or four weeks into the whole paleo/real food/whatever you want to call it diet change. I need to get a new picture taken with that same green shirt on from the left photo.
Speaking of clothes, yesterday I was wearing an old gray pair of around-the-house pants. In the late afternoon, I caught a glimpse of my backside in the mirror. When I next saw my lovely husband, I said, "I wore those pants all day and not once did you mention that I looked like the elephant woman from behind." I had layers of bagginess hanging back there. I'd taken the dog outside I don't know how many times in those pants yesterday! When I put the them back on to show him how they looked, he had a good laugh. |

hullo all.
firstly, it's eight days until december. and then after that, it'll be christmas. so as per the fine print of my life contract, i'll be accepting auditions for people to come and SHOOT ME IN THE HEAD.
that being said, mind, we're ahead of the curve this year when it comes to presents (for the child, you understand). come christmas eve, i'll be very impressed if we have floor space to, y'know, walk. on the plus side, eve is REALLY looking forward to christmas this year. she's been asking for the father christmas tree since september. the fun she'll have decorating it will take her a whole evening and her mother a whole day to sort out. thankfully, my job mostly ends at dragging the tree out and helping with the lights.
secondly, after a horrendous bout of the flu wherein i was (mostly) laid up in bed for two days, things haven't really stopped here. though really, that flu was so bad and it ripped through all three of us quite badly, that neither me nor emily had enough energy to make swine flu jokes. it started, as most illnesses do in this house, with the little one being ill. she had a high temperature (you could have used her comfortably as a hot water bottle, she was that bad), then she had a bit of a sniffle, and a bit of a cough. all in all, she was ill for about four days in total. when i caught it, it took two and a half weeks for it to run its course, and it's taken about a month for emily to get shot of it (though the sore throat is lingering for her).
then after that, we all had to go into cardiff for a family party and there was stupendous amounts of shopping to be done. so recovering from being ill as well as being in the city where, apparently, manners are optional but being rude is mandatory (fuckers), i've barely touched the ground. and now that it's christmas time, i have to start getting the house spotless and hiding certain things that little eyes shouldn't see.
honest to god, if there's two things in this world that should happen childfree, it's being sick as a dog and the hiding of christmas gifts. we have a finite amount of room and we're running out of it fast. this time next month every where i turn i'll see bags that hide sparkly pink things. it's enough to send you mad. |
